Celebrating Independence | Edina 4th of July Parade
Nothing says summer like fresh air and celebrating America’s independence! We attended the city of Edina’s Annual 4th of July parade last week. It’s something we look forward to every year. Unfortunately, last year we couldn’t attend due to weather, so we were eager and thrilled when the weather held out so that we could go this year.
English Rose Suites and b♦home Home Care has been attending the parade since 2000 and make it a goal each year to attend. Every year we scope out the same spot and pitch our blue tents, folding chairs, and of course the smiling faces of our residents dressed in their patriotic red, white and blue attire.
“We have become sort of a permanent float in the parade. We have been going for as long I can remember. It’s fun to watch them enjoy all of the sights and sounds of the parade,” said Katie Rinehimer, Quality of Life Director.
The residents enjoyed watching the little ones that came by to say hi or stopped by to borrow some of our shade from our sun tents.
Many of the residents proudly sang along to the songs as the marching bands passed by. A gentlemen who attended the parade said it was his first time in many years and didn’t stop smiling then entire time.
The many smiles and cheers from the residents during the parade brought such joy to everyone around them. It is truly so special being able to bring them to the parade and see the joy on their faces.
