Jayne Clairmont Speaks at HealthPartners Neuroscience Center
HealthPartners Center for Memory & Aging holds monthly informational events both at the Neuroscience Center Building and out in the community. HealthPartners brings local experts to present on various topics ranging from “Memory Loss and Driving” to “Food for Healthy Brains” and beyond. The informational talks are open to the public and just one of many wonderful resources the center has to offer.
On September 24th, Jayne Clairmont, owner & CEO of English Rose Suites and b♦home Home Care, shared her knowledge and expertise at a Lunch and Learn event at HealthPartner’s Neuroscience Center Building in St. Paul.
In her presentation, titled Caregiving: What is takes to be the BEST you can be! Clairmont talked about caregiver stress and symptoms and self-care for the caregiver. Did you know that according to the US National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health elderly caregivers are at a 63% higher risk of mortality than non-caregivers in the same age group?
She shared many great tips on using life enhancement aids. Clairmont talked about how simply wearing a name tag, labeling pictures of the people in it with their names or using signs to show where the restroom is can be great tools to aid in helping your loved one maintain independence that supports well-being.
Clairmont also shared the benefits of essential oils and talked about the use of lavender to help promote sleep as well as insights from the Lavender Study with HealthPartners.
Many HealthPartners employees and Neuroscience physicians were in attendance as well as families, patients, and caregivers.
“This is the first time someone spoke from a caregiver’s perspective, as a caregiver. Jayne shared great ideas [for life enhancement aids] like showing the various photos of a child as they have aged, ideas everyone could benefit from,” said Ann Brombach, Manager, Neuroscience Research – HealthPartners Center for Memory & Aging
The event offered some very useful tips that many wished they had heard earlier in their time caregiving. Clairmont is a powerful speaker with a natural gift of impacting the audience in an informative and inspiring way.
