Whether it’s training staff on Dementia, consulting, or speaking at local and national events, Jayne Clairmont is a busy bee sharing her insight and knowledge on dementia and caregiving. Last week Clairmont, Owner and CEO of English Rose Suites and b♦home Home Care had the opportunity to speak at the 2017 Dementia Care Conference – Research and Beyond: Innovations in Dementia Research and Caregiving in Mankato, Minnesota.
The event was hosted by Minnesota State University Mankato department of Continuing & Professional Education and was held at the Chelsey Center on Aging on the MSUM campus.
The Chelsey Center on Aging, “serves as the hub for aging-related resources and research on the Minnesota State Mankato campus as well as the portal for collaborations with community agencies and institutions. The Center provides education and applied research in southern Minnesota, and works collaboratively with community partners in the region’s aging network.”
“There truly was a wonderful group of individuals present eager to gain valuable knowledge,” said Clairmont of the conference.
The conference brought together a unique trio of presenters. Along with Clairmont, Dr. Hugo Botha, M.B., Ch.B. Rsearcher, Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center and the Department of Neurology, Mayo Health System, Rochester, MN., and Angela Lunde, MS., Dementia Education Manager, Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center and the Department of Neurology, Mayo Health System, Rochester, MN., shared their vast knowledge on dementia.
Dr. Botha spoke on “Latest Findings and Trends in Research” While, Lunde and Clairmont shared their insights on caregiving and the importance of quality of life among other things.
“The expertise was greatly appreciated and my cursory glance at the evaluations indicates that people were delighted with what each of them presented,” said Don Ebel, PhD., Director of the Aging Studies Program and the Chelsey Center on Aging.
In a couple weeks, on Wednesday, October 25th, Clairmont will be speaking at a Lunch and Learn event “Dementia: Gain a Deeper Understanding” at JAK+co CPA.
On November 14th, Clairmont, will be at Mill City Commons for a special program that will focus on communicating with those experiencing and coping with memory loss, as well as how to let others know about your own personal journey with cognitive issues. Bill Keane, an aging consultant who has held leadership positions with many aging organizations and a former national board member of the Alzheimer’s Association organization and who himself is now living with Parkinson’s disease will also be joining the conversation at this event.
