One year ago, English Rose launched our volunteer program, inviting members of our community into our beautiful homes, and more importantly, into the lives of our incredible residents.
Volunteers play a vital role in enriching the lives of our residents and home care clients. Whether it’s through a friendly conversation, a shared activity, or simply being present, their kindness and dedication make a lasting impact. Each volunteer brings something uniquely valuable – whether it was their time, their talents, or simply their open hearts.
In honor of Volunteer Appreciation Month, we spoke with several volunteers about what their time at English Rose has meant to them:

Ashley

“I got involved with English Rose through my Community Involvement class at Hopkins High School. The class encourages students to give back and support the wellbeing of others. When I learned about English Rose and their mission to create meaningful connections and improve the lives of their residents, I knew I wanted to be part of it.”
“I enjoyed volunteering so much that I decided to join the team as a part-time caregiver.”
How has volunteering impacted you personally?

Natalie
Community Volunteer
“Volunteering has greatly impacted my life. My grandma has Alzheimer’s, and getting involved with the dementia training offered by English Rose was an eye-opening experience for me. This training not only equipped me with best practices but also taught me meaningful ways to connect with those affected by Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.”

Susan
Community Volunteer
“I have gained a greater appreciation for the issues surrounding aging, particularly the importance of aging in place and addressing loneliness and isolation. I’ve realized how we can combat these challenges and how vital it is to honor those who have lived well and learn from their experiences.”
How has volunteering at English Rose shaped your future career goals?

Isabella

Natalie

“The training I received helped me better understand the complexities of Alzheimer’s disease and showed me how English Rose exemplifies high-quality care through its well-being model. Learning to apply this holistic approach in my daily interactions has inspired me to incorporate these principles into my own life.”

Isabella
