10 questions with Kayla, Home Services Assistant

What is your role at English Rose?

I do walk-throughs of our homes, assessing and attending to the cleanliness and organization of the environment.

How long have you worked at English Rose?
Almost 3 years!

What do you like most about your job?
I love that I get to be a support to our caregivers. By doing more of the “deep cleaning” I am giving them time to be with our residents. As someone who has been a caregiver, I know how special that time can be.

What do you like to do when you aren’t working?
I love to read. Mostly self-help books. I also love to hike and be outdoors. I especially enjoying kayaking and just being on the water.

What’s a fun fact about you many people may not know?
I have two cats named Bane and Yoshi. Bane can jump on command!

Where’s your favorite place in the world?
My grandma’s home in Detroit Lakes. She sold it years ago, but I have so many memories there. It would always bring me peace being away from the city.

What is your motto or personal mantra?
Be grateful every day. Gratitude is the most important part of life.

Three words to best describe you?
Caring – Calm – Goofy

What is your favorite food?
Chicken Alfredo. I’ve perfected my own homemade recipe.

Which of English Rose’s core values is your favorite and why?

Relationships, for sure. I get to bounce around from house to house, and I get to see all our residents and staff on a daily to weekly basis. I love getting to know everyone and just being part of their world. It’s fun and it’s very important to me.
