Living Well Learning Series

Welcome to the English Rose Foundation Education Series. Our mission is to provide warm, welcoming learning experiences that empower individuals, families, carers, and professionals with knowledge, confidence, and connection.

Session Format
Each session includes approximately 60 minutes of education followed by 30 minutes for questions or panel discussion. Please feel free to arrive late or leave early—these sessions are designed to meet you where you are.

January

Dementia Workshop: Tips & Tricks
January 29 | 9:00–10:30 a.m.

A practical, hands on session focused on everyday strategies for supporting individuals living with dementia. Topics include effective communication, identifying triggers for expressing communication and managing those challenges. We will also cover creating dementia friendly environments, and supporting carers.

Choosing the Right Living Environment & Level of Care (JW)
February 26 | 2:00–3:30 p.m.

This session helps individuals understand care options across the continuum—from independent living and homebased services to assisted living and higher levels of care. Learn how to assess needs, ask the right questions, and make informed decisions as circumstances evolve.

Stay Safe at Home & Fall Prevention
March 12 | 2:00–3:30 p.m.

In partnership with Above and Beyond Senior Services

An interactive, safety focused session covering fall prevention strategies, home safety modifications, mobility awareness, and emergency planning. Designed to support independence and reduce risk while living at home.

Parkinson’s 101
April 14 | 9:00–10:30 a.m.

In partnership with the Parkinson’s Foundation

An introductory overview of Parkinson’s disease, including symptoms, progression, treatment options, and daily living support strategies. English Rose will also share practical, personcentered examples of Parkinson’s care. A supportive session for individuals and families navigating the emotion and practical aspects on this diagnosis.

Transitioning to a New Home*
May 19 | 2:00–3:30 p.m.

A supportive session for individuals and families navigating the emotional and practical aspects of moving from a longtime home. Topics include timing and decisionmaking, downsizing, care considerations, family conversations, and available community supports.

June

Brain Health
June 23 | 9:00–10:30 a.m.

An engaging session focused on maintaining and supporting brain health across the lifespan. Topics include cognitive wellness, lifestyle factors that support brain function, early signs of cognitive change, and strategies for longterm brain health.

August

Quality of Life & Communication*
August 6 | 2:00–2:30 p.m.

A focused session on person centered communication and its powerful impact on quality of life. Participants will explore techniques that promote understanding, connection, dignity, and emotional wellbeing in care relationships.

September

Plan Ahead with Confidence: Understanding Your Care & Coverage Options
September 29 | 2:00–3:30 p.m.

In partnership with Grace Hospice and Open Door Financial

Join us for an informative and empowering educational session designed to help you take control of future care decisions. We’ll break down the often-confusing world of care funding and planning so you can make informed choices with clarity and peace of mind.

You’ll learn:

  • What Medicare does — and does not — cover
  • How Long-Term Care Insurance really works
  • When and how private pay fits into care planning
  • The importance of advance care documents, including SF/LF Directives, POLST, and Living Wills

October

End of Life Care & Hospice*
October 22 | 9:00–10:30 a.m.

In partnership with a local hospice provider

A compassionate and informative session exploring what hospice care is, when it may be appropriate, and how it supports individuals and families. Topics include comfortfocused care, emotional and spiritual support, care settings, and honoring dignity, choice, and quality of life.

November

Dementia 101: Understanding Normal Cognitive Decline
November 10 | 2:00–3:30 p.m.

An introductory session explaining the difference between normal aging and dementia. Topics include early signs to watch for, when to seek support, and available community resources.
